Aerosmith - The Bad Boys from Boston

Aerosmith is an American rock band, sometimes referred to as "the Bad Boys from Boston" and "America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band". Their style, which is rooted in blues-based hard rock, has come to also incorporate elements of pop, heavy metal, and rhythm and blues, and has inspired many subsequent rock artists. They were formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1970. Guitarist Joe Perry and bassist Tom Hamilton, originally in a band together called the Jam Band, met up with vocalist/pianist/harmonicist Steven Tyler, drummer Joey Kramer, and guitarist Ray Tabano, and formed Aerosmith. In 1971, Tabano was replaced by Brad Whitford, and the band began developing a following in Boston. They were signed to Columbia Records in 1972, and released a string of gold and platinum albums, beginning with their 1973 eponymous debut album, followed by Get Your Wings in 1974. In 1975, the band broke into the mainstream with the album Toys in the Attic, and their 1976 follow-up Rocks cemented their status as hard rock superstars. Two additional albums followed in 1977 and 1979. Their first five albums have since attained multi-platinum status. Throughout the 1970s, the band toured extensively and charted a dozen Hot 100 singles. By the end of the decade, they were among the most popular hard rock bands in the world and developed a loyal following of fans, often referred to as the "Blue Army". However, drug addiction and internal conflict took their toll on the band, which led to the departures of Perry and Whitford in 1979 and 1981, respectively; they were replaced by Jimmy Crespo and Rick Dufay.[10] The band did not fare well between 1980 and 1984, releasing the album Rock in a Hard Place, which was certified gold but failed to match their previous successes.

Perry and Whitford returned to Aerosmith in 1984 and the band signed a new deal with Geffen Records. After a comeback tour, the band recorded Done with Mirrors (1985), which won some critical praise but failed to come close to commercial expectations. It was not until the band's collaboration with rap group Run–D.M.C. in 1986, and the 1987 multi-platinum release Permanent Vacation, that they regained the level of popularity they had experienced in the 1970s. In the late 1980s and 1990s, the band scored several hits and won numerous awards for music from the multi-platinum albums Pump (1989), Get a Grip (1993), and Nine Lives (1997), and embarked on their most extensive concert tours to date. The band also became a pop culture phenomenon with popular music videos and notable appearances in television, film, and video games. Their comeback has been described as one of the most remarkable and spectacular in rock 'n' roll history. Additional albums followed in 2001, 2004, and 2012. Since 2001, the band has toured every year, except 2008. After 47 years of performing, the band continues to tour and record music, but is embarking on a farewell tour that will likely last several years, with the first leg of the tour planned for Europe in the spring and summer of 2017.

Aerosmith is the best-selling American hard rock band of all time, having sold more than 150 million records worldwide, including over 70 million records in the United States alone. With 25 gold albums, 18 platinum albums, and 12 multi-platinum albums, they hold the record for the most total certifications by an American band and are tied for the most multi-platinum albums by an American band. The band has scored 21 Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, nine number-one Mainstream Rock hits, four Grammy Awards, six American Music Awards, and ten MTV Video Music Awards. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001, and were included among both Rolling Stone's and VH1's lists of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. In 2013, the band's principal songwriters, Tyler and Perry, were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

72 Blues - Southern Fried

72Blues, is a Detroit, MI, USA based delta-electro rock n' blues band, paying homage to the great blues artists of the early 20th century. The band celebrates 'tradition' and 'authenticity' with their roots firmly planted in American heritage but saturate their blues with a stinging-sweat style of attitude and delivery, making the 72Blues sound - all their own. 72Blues deliver a blend of down south and signifying honky rawkin-blues; celebratin' old time traditional music, swing blues, delta blues, rock blues and nail it to the cross with original and contemporary sensibility. This mob of musicians hen peck and scuffle a devilish blend of country-blues, swamp-blues, gospel rhythms, cotton field chants, gospel-blues and prison-blues. Devil music meets Divine intervention you might say! 72Blues arrived with their highly acclaimed debut CD release 'Said I Would' of 2005, with 11 wickedly raw tracks streamed together seamlessly rejoicing in a 70 minute sinner's sermon. Followed by their sizzlin' 2006 single 'She Like The Fux, Like Electrolux' recorded in Melbourne, Australia and their latest 'Detroit Border City' EP recorded with legendary producer Jim Diamond of 'Ghetto Recorders Studio' in Detroit, Michigan'...

A Day To Remember - American Rock Band

A Day to Remember (often abbreviated ADTR) is an American rock band from Ocala, Florida, founded in 2003 by guitarist Tom Denney and drummer Bobby Scruggs. They are known for their unusual amalgamation of metalcore and pop punk. The band currently consists of vocalist Jeremy McKinnon, rhythm guitarist Neil Westfall, bassist Joshua Woodard, percussion and drummer Alex Shelnutt and lead guitarist Kevin Skaff. Later that year the band recorded For Those Who Have Heart (2007) for Victory Records. They embarked on several tours of the UK and U.S. and played at several festivals, before recording and releasing Homesick (2009). While promoting Homesick on tour, Denney was replaced by Skaff. Soon after releasing their next album, What Separates Me from You (2010), the band went on a worldwide tour to promote it. Beginning in 2011, the band has been involved in a lawsuit with Victory Records over their recording contract. In October 2013 the band was given the right to self-release a new album until a final verdict is reached. They released their fifth album, Common Courtesy, the same month.

The Great Music of Portugal (Part II)

And Portugal continues to surprise us with great bands, great music. Thanks to Magal, now they are available at Valvulado...

ANANGA RANGA (Jazz Rock/Fusion)

ANANGA RANGA appeared in Lisbon, Portugal in 1976 playing Prog covers and were formed by Luís FIRMINO (guitar), ÁLVARO (bass), Manuel BARRETO (piano), NECAS (drums), Rui PEDROSO (organ) and PANTERA (percussion).

They released a couple of Pop singles in 1979 but on the same year they recruted Manuel GARCIA (saxophone) and released their debut, a Jazz Rock/Fusion album called Regresso às Origens. It's fully instrumental and has a very typical 70's Fusion sound with obvious influences from MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA, RETURN TO FOREVER, among others. It also had Carlos ZÍNGARO (violin) as a special guest which added even more diversity to the album.

After that album, ÁLVARO was replaced by Vasco ALVES and Rui PEDROSO and PANTERA left the band. The next year the recorded their second and last album Privado, with the participation of Alfredo NASCIMENTO (cavaquinho, percussion). On this one they tried to appeal to both Pop and Jazz Rock listeners, but the result was a confusing album that didn't appeal to either.

Their output was very uneven but Regresso às Origens is an obscure gem that is highly recommended to fans of the Jazz Rock/Fusion genre.

ANAR BAND (Experimental Instrumental Music)

Anar Band was a project by Jorge Lima Barreto (1949), who had been performing interventions in experimental and jazz music, video art and performance-art since the late sixties; graduated in Art History and doctorate in Musicology and Social Communication Theory, he wrote several books and produced radio shows. Anar Band was a laboratorial group for improvisations, in the aesthetics of the free-jazz and electroacoustics. Produced and recorded in 1976, Anar Band was, on an electroacoustic profile, the first Portuguese record of improvised music, clearly committed as such.Formed by Jorge Lima Barreto (who would be from 1981 onwards one of the halves of Telectu, the other being Vítor Rua) and Rui Reininho (later the lead singer with avant-garde pop group GNR), this is a true trip into the inner realms of the mind, fuelled by jazz rock leanings and electronics – the ARP Odyssey synthesizer also reminds us that from here to prog rock is sometimes a small step. This is a truly original work of art, and the gatefold features extensive sleeve notes.

Carlos Alberto Vidal (Folk Prog Rock)

Carlos Alberto Vidal is a Portuguese musician, singer and composer. Born in 1954 in Lousã, he began his solo career in the early 70s, releasing some singles and his only LP in 1976. From 1982 Carlos became the character "Avô Cantigas" (Grandpa Storyteller) and has since become the best known children musician in the country.
Post here the album "Changri-Lá", it consists of 9 tracks, most short, progressive rock similar to other works done in Portugal, melodic, with beautiful harmonies, lyrics in Portuguese and varied topics as mystical beings, day by day and childhood. In the instrumental, great passages of keyboard, piano, sax and flute; best songs are "Corpo de mulher sem mal", "Emanuel," "O meu nome somos nós" and "Sunrise". Perhaps one of the most interesting Portuguese prog rock records of the 70s, recommended.

Filarmonica Fraude (Prog Rock)

Filarmónica Fraude is a Portuguese band, one of the first to introduce and give relevance in Portugal to the musical style that was beginning to emerge in Europe and the United States of America called progressive rock. In 1969 he released an album and two EPs.

Herois do Mar (Pop Rock)

Herois do Mar were a Portuguese pop-rock band formed in March 1981 by: Paulo Pedro Gonçalves (guitar), Carlos Maria Trindade (keys), Tozé Almeida (drums), Pedro Ayres Magalhães (bass) and Rui Pregal da Cunha (voice).

PSICO (Prog Rock)

Portuguese pearl, Psico was formed in 1968 and unfortunately just released a single 10 years after, in 1978. The two songs Al's and Epitáfio bring a great progressive rock, remembering Gentle Giant. Emphasis on keyboards and drums. REALLY GREAT PROG!!!!

PETRUS CASTRUS (Prog Rock)

SAGA (Crossover Prog)

Portuguese project SAGA was the creative vehicle of composer and musician João Luis Tinoco. Under his leadership some of the finest musicians in Portugal at the time gave realized his thematic oriented production revolving around issues such as war and the use of atomic weapons. While crafted with a minute attention to detail, the end result didn't strike a nerve with the mainstream audience when "Homo Sapiens" was released in 1976, and Tinoco left the realm of the recording artists soon after to concentrate on songwriting.

Xarhanga (Hard Rock)

Xarhanga was a Hard Rock Band from Portugal. They had a very ephemeral life in 1973. The band left only two singles.

3rd Force - Smooth Jazz

3rd Force is a smooth jazz band on the EMI Higher Octave label, consisting of trio William Aura, Craig Dobbin, and Alain Eskinasi.[1] Founded in 1994 by William Aura after a prolific solo career in new-age music, he, Dobbin, and Eskinasi immediately set out working on their self-titled debut album, 3rd Force which was released that same year. After the album's commercial success, the trio continued the studio project with their next release, Force of Nature in 1995. This album garnered an even bigger success than their debut spawning the popular single Here Comes the Night featuring guest guitarist Peter White. After a two-year break, 3rd Force released their 3rd album Vital Force in 1997. The album gained 3rd Force's second hit single You Gotta Be Real once again featuring guest guitarist Peter White. The 4th album, called Force Field, was released in 1999 resulting in another of the band's singles Revelation of the Heart, with guest saxophonist Paul Taylor. In 2000 Higher Octave released a best-of compilation of 3rd Force, entitled Collective Force, which featured the band's best hits in both radio and fan favorites, along with two new songs, Dance With Me and Sweet Surrender. 2002 saw the release of their 5th studio album, Gentle Force, which showcased a mellower jazz sound than the band's usual output. Three years later,3rd Force released Driving Force in 2005. Their latest release showcases a completely opposite style than the previous Gentle Force album which was almost lounge-style mellow jazz in sound. Driving Force, however, features a funky lively jazz mix never before heard in 3rd Force's music. The most popular singles from their latest release are Believe In Me, featuring the trumpeter Greg Adams, keyboardist Jeff Lorber, and guitarist Brian Hughes, and You Got It, featuring guitarist Marc Antoine. After more than a 10 year hiatus, 3rd Force reunited to release "Global Force" in 2016. Throughout the course of their career, 3rd Force has performed with numerous guest musicians including guitarists Peter White, Marc Antoine, Acoustic Alchemy, Grant Geissman, Brian Hughes, Craig Chaquico, Earl Klugh, Shahin Shahida of Shahin and Sepehr, and saxophonists Paul Taylor, Tom Scott, Dave Koz, Eric Marienthal, Jimmy Sommers, Bryan Savage, Richard Elliot, Boney James, Eric Darius, Ozzie Ahlers, Euge Groove, Rick Braun, and Lawson Rollins.

Afro Latin Vintage Orchestra - (Soul-Funky groove from France)

Founded in 2007 with a rotating cast of members and ranging in size from a 20 piece band to 12 that contributed to this album, the core musicians consists of 6 members: Masta Conga (perc), Benjamin Peyrot Des Gachons (keyb), Elvis Martinez Smith (guitar), Philipe Vernier (sax), Jb Feyt (trumpet) and David Battestini Quadri (double bass). At it's heart is Masta Conga who's the designated ring leader and primarily responsible for the concept and production of this album. "ALVO is not a classic group which repeats, It is a space of creation all around of various revolving musicians according to projects." says Masta Conga.

This is definitely a very fine thing! Definitely Roots is the first album by the French band Afro Latin Vintage Orchestra. Five qualifying stars for sure. Everything that a person with good taste in music expects to hear is found in this work. Jazzy virtuosity, swing and swing, Soul-Funky groove, African-inspired chants and choruses, experimental moments with batucadas and uncontrolled metals, and all the best. All elements of composition are combined into an elegant and refined production, nothing sounding out of place. It's hot, it's hot! Spark of the hot coals to set fire to his day, not very encouraging after a hard job. Grab a drink, call your wife or husband to roll with you, and follow the Flow! It really is to rock, rummage, shake, grab the woman by the waist and rotate it away. Just by the cover of the disc we already see what the content proposes; Is a battalion of musicians putting to roll in the best that each instrument can offer. I do not need to describe much about this record, dear ones. Just try it!

Abraxas - Power Metal (Germany)

ABRAXAS play melodic, diverse and characteristic power metal with progressive elements. A must for every fan of bands such as Stratovarius, Gamma Ray, Hammerfall and Savatage. Now the apparently impossible has become reality - "Tomorrow's World", Abraxas' long-awaited debut album was released in Europe in February 1998 by Limb Music Products in co-operation with Inside Out Music/SPV. The impressive, self-financed disc was produced by Hardy Heinlin and ABRAXAS in the highly respected "Marquee Studios".

ABRAXAS are amongst the true leaders of traditional German heavy metal, with whom they founded and led the genre of "Teutonic Metal". Thanks to their impressive live show and their musical maturity, the band can look back on a history of great shows with U.D.O., Zed Yago, Sinner and Kruiz, and a collection of terrific reviews in the leading metal press, such as "Metal Hammer", "Break Out" and "Rock Hard".

With ex-MANIA (EP & album released by Noise Records) singer Chris Klauke, ABRAXAS have one of Germany's best power metal vocalists in their ranks. Talented guitarist Oliver Mindner is also seen as one of the most talented and diverse musicians on this instrument.

In order to enhance the appeal of the album for the European market, all the songs have been digitally remastered, the playing order revised, three bonus tracks added and the CD given new artwork and a new booklet. After re-naming the title from the original "The Liaison" in "Tomorrow's World", the long player is finally ready to hit European record shops, and to give fans, both old and new the chance at last to hear the classic power metal of one of Germany's best bands.
