CHANDELIER - Neo-Prog • Germany

Some people believe CHANDELIER is the German response to Fish's MARILLION, while others believe it's a clone band, I don't agree with either of this positions because they released their first album in 1990 so it was to late to a be a response to FISH era, being that he had already left the band; and with the second option even more, because despite the similarities between both bands and specially in the vocals of FISH and Martin Eden, Chandelier has also a strong influence of ARAGON, SAGA, early IQ and several other Neo Prog bands.

The band managed to keep the same lineup from the first to the last album, formed by Martin Eden in vocals, Udo Lang (guitars), Stephan Scholz (Bass), Tobias Budnowski (Keyboards) and Tom Jarzina on the drums.

Their first album "Pure" (1990), was self released and was accepted by the German Prog community, for their second album "facing Gravity" (1992), they signed with "Inside Out Records" who released the album.

In 1997 the release their third and last album Timecode, which is a radical change in style being much more closer to SAGA than to any other band with a touch of mainstream.

If you are a MARILLION fan and you are able to accept a guy singing like Fish but with a strong German accent, then this is your band, not revolutionary or original but a very solid band that I enjoy to listen once in a while.

ANIMA MUNDI - Symphonic Prog • Cuba

Formed in 1996 in La Habana, Cuba

ANIMA MUNDI have always combined prog sounds with other music genres and used instruments that are uncommon for rock. Echoes of Celtic, Cuban, New Age, and Symphonic Rock music can be clearly distinguished.

On the 2002 debut album "Septentrion", ANIMA MUNDI's band members consist of Roberto Diaz on electric & acoustic guitars, Virginia Peraza on keyboards, programming, Ariel Valdes on drums & percussion, Ariel Angel on bass, Andremil Oropeza on lead vocals, Regis Rodrigues on bagpipes, recorder, & whistle, Anaisy Gomez on bagpipes, recorder, & clarinet. The followup album "Jagannath Orbit" was released in 2008 with a different band lineup; Yaroski Corredera on bass, Osvaldo Vieites on drums, and Carlos Sosa on lead vocals joining the regular lineup. This album featured guest musicians; Javier Mauri on percussion, recorder, Donna Betancourt on bassoon, and Jacobo García on didgeridoo.

In 2010 the band released "The Way" with 4 tracks one of which is a 26 and a half minute epic, "Spring Knocks on the Door of Men". This time the lineup was new with Virginia Peraza (keyboards), Roberto Díaz (lead guitar & vocals), Yaroski Corredera (bass guitar), Manuel Govin (drums) and Carlos Sosa (also vocals) and as guests Mónica Acosta (bassoon), Yailin Martinez (flute) and Javier Mauri (percussion). In 2013 the next album "The Lamplighter" saw the light of day featuring 2 Suites and an Epilogue clocking a total of 53 minutes. The band again changed with Emmanuel Pirko-Farrath on vocals, Roberto Díaz on guitars, Virginia Peraza on keyboards, Yaroski Corredera on bass and José Manuel Govin on drums.

The band have released undoubtedly some of the best Symphonic Progressive Rock albums from Cuba, namely "Septentrion". On this debut there are also nice intermixes of Celtic influences within the overall structure which add a wonderful sense of ambiance. There are 12 tracks (5 instrumental) and one can get lost in the overall multi-layering of the music. 2010's "The Way" has also gained some high ratings from reviewers. AMINA MUNDI are highly recommended for Symphonic Prog fans.

Valeu Brother...

Christmas - Cheap Trick & Mr. Hankey's Christmas Classics

Cheap Trick is an indisputable American institution, beloved around the globe since 1974 for their instantly identifiable and hugely influential brand of pop rock n roll. This is the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductees first Christmas album.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Those degenerate cousins of Beavis and Butt-head have issued a predictable hash of 18 X-rated holiday songs for fans only. Rude, crude, outrageous outhouse humor certain to offend anyone who doesn't know South Park from the North Pole, these bellicose brats lambaste Hindus, Shintoists, and those of other faiths for not celebrating Christmas and remind us all that we'll one day be "Dead Dead Dead" (so enjoy each and every Christmas!). In between scattered bits of genuine holiday snippets, there's poop fixations ("Mr. Hankey the Christmas Poo"), Jewish obsessions ("The Lonely Jew at Christmas" and "Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel"), "The Most Offensive Song Ever" (the Mary and Joseph story told, in part), and the sexual entendres of "What the Hell Child Is This?" Funny stuff? Maybe only if you tune in regularly and know that they frequently kill Kenny. And that's a big maybe. --Martin Keller

Christmas - The Ultimate Christmas Album

Merry Christmas

Christmas - 'Round The Jukebox

Here is a Christmas celebration attended by some of the greatest names in R&B. From the late 40s to the early 50s the biggest names in Blues including B.B. King, Amos Milburn, Charles Brown, Jimmy Witherspoon, Lowell Fulton, Roy Milton, The Drifters, Joe Turner and Chuck Berry sing their Christmas favourites. Being the blues of course, many of the songs emphasise how lonely Christmas can be without the one you love whilst others celebrate the holiday season with joyful songs and new versions of standards like "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer" and "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town". Many of these records constantly reappeared on the R&B sales every year. Some like Charles Brown's original million selling "Merry Christmas Baby" were still selling well into the soul era. Depending on your mood you can preselect these titles, pour a large Brandy and wallow in the depressive elements of a lonely Christmas or roll back the carpet, put another nickel in the jukebox and have a Rockin' Christmas celebration. Either way works!

Christmas - Acoustic Christmas with Neil Diamond

Acoustic Christmas is the new holiday album from Neil Diamond on Capitol Records. Set for release on October. 28 and followed Nov. 18 by a vinyl version, the holiday collection includes new material alongside Diamond's singular renditions of yuletide classics. Acoustic Christmas was produced by Jacknife Lee (U2, R.E.M.) and Don Was (Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan), the pair behind Diamond's previous release, 2014 s Melody Road. The new holiday album is distinguished by an intimacy reminiscent of what Lee refers to as parlor music, small family groups singing together at home, and, of course, Diamond's inimitable voice, which the producer likens to hot chocolate. The profound and legendary singer/songwriter has enjoyed a global career spanning five decades, and has sold a staggering 125+ million albums, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time.
